Employment Equity

Every employer with a workforce above 50 is deemed a ‘designated employer’ and is required to comply with the Employment Equity Act. Many organisations find this task daunting. - Onboarding Consultation -

Before undertaking a project, we’ll engage with key stakeholders on their expectations of Employment Equity. We’ll establish key roles and resources that will be needed.

- Employment Equity Training -

Employment Equity Act may not be a foreign concept; however, many have construed views on this legislation. Therefore, Employment Equity training needs to be administered to both management and employees to establish a clear understanding of the Act.

- Committee -

Every ‘Designated Employer’ are by law required to establish an Employment Equity forum/committee. Channels are created to allow employees to nominate and elect staff to be their representative.

- Constitution -

Every established committee are required to adhere to rules and overall codes of conduct. Therefore, a constitution will be drafted with consultation of the committee.

- Analysis -

In preparation for the Employment Equity Plan, every committee with its appointed ‘Senior Manager’ are required to analyse the workforce by identifying employment barriers and implementation of affirmative action measures.

- Employment Equity Plan -

The development of the Employment Equity Plan includes the identified employment barriers and numerical targets along affirmative action measures. This plan will be a liveable document that must be adhered to.

- Employment Equity Reporting -

The Department of Labour require every ‘Designated Employer’ to submit their Employment Equity Report.

Skills Development

Staff Development is not a once-off task, but rather a continuous process that requires critical interventions that many tend to neglect. Therefore, at EiM Consultancy, we are confident in our skills development approach by creating a system geared for continuous development and learning.

- Training Needs Analysis -

Every organisation should undertake the exercise of understanding skills gaps, skills shortages, and training needs. This exercise ensures an assessment of available skills and critical skills to develop.

- WSP/ATR Capturing -

After undertaking training needs, skills gaps and ultimately sending staff for training, it is imperative that a WSP (Workplace Skills Plan) is designed and reported on to the applicable SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority). Mandatory grants are received upon an approved WSP/ATR report.   

- Discretionary Grants -

To claim Discretionary Grants, an approved WSP/ATR report is a pre-requisite. Therefore, it is critical that an in-depth skills gap analysis is completed, to identify the correct training programmes to apply for. These programmes are Learnerships, Bursaries, Internships, Skills Programmes and Apprenticeships.

- Skills Development Facilitator -

Every organisation requires a qualified SDF to submit and compile a WSP/ATR report. A ‘SDF’ is critical during the training and development process.

- Learning Paths -

Employees find it rewarding knowing that their job/career has a learning path or a career path. This project entails various information gathering activities, such as TNAs, interviews with managers, research and understanding market trends.
